Group wind foil lessonsGet off to a flying start with a group course of Windfoilen Nederland
Group wind foil les, € 350 per group
Learning wind foiling is like learning to ride a unicycle on a single-cycle. It’s still cycling, but balance and balance are becoming much more important. Experience shows that taking a wind foil course with good guidance, tips and trics and lets you fly quickly. We give wind foil courses under the guidance of experienced and enthusiastic instructors. In small groups of up to 5 participants you will receive expert instructions and you are guaranteed to learn wind foils. You’re going to be up to us on top material from Starboard (board and wind foils), with your own rigging. After a short introduction, you will take to the water with the instructor and make your first flight meters on the wind foil. With a group of up to 5 people, a lesson lasts 2.5 hours.
If you want to supplement a modified program or with a BBQ, for example, let us know and we like to think along with you!
Hire of rigging & wetsuits?
Members do not have a suitable rigging and/or suit. We have a wide range of suitable riggings from 3.0 m2 to 7.5m2. We also have suits, trapezes and life jackets in all common making. The cost of rent is;
- Rigging for € 29 per person
- Wetsuit and harness for € 9 per person
The design of the wind foil lessons;
- Start with explanations about the operation of wind foils
- You get theoretical instruction on how to get up and stay stable in the air
- You will be instructed on the tuning of the shelf and the rig
- Most of the lessons take place naturally on the water, where you learn;
- How to get your board up in the air as soon as possible
- How to keep stability during wind foiling
- How to make an emergency stop (very important to learn, flying is something very different than planning :))
We’ll give you the guarantee that you’re making the 1st flight meters on the wind foil. You can stick to that!
The group consists of up to 5 participants. The instructor goes up the water with you and guides you on the water. Wearing a helmet is mandatory during the lessons. The use of a helmet is included in the price.
Tip for rigging during lessons
On average, wind foiling makes you use a sail that is 1 m2 smaller than you’re used to windsurfing. With wind force 4 you can already use a 6.5 m2 to get some great wind foils. In addition, learning to wind with a sail without cambers is the easiest. Keep this in mind if you bring your material for the lessons.
When booking a wind foil course, the participants automatically agree to the terms and conditions of Windfoilen Nederland.
What if there’s too little or too much wind?
If the wind expectation is between 10 and 24 knots, the lessons normally go on. If the wind expectation is less or more, we cancel the lesson. We will of course plan a new date.
To learn to wind foil it is important that you master the following parts of windsurfing. These skills you need to get the wind foil into the air in a good way and also control the wind foil and the rig in the air.
What should you be able to do at least:
- Planing (on a board without sword)
- Standing in the headbands
- Can plan on a shelf with up to 140 litres of volume
- Be able to pump your shelf into plane
If you do not control the above parts or not sufficiently, then unfortunately we cannot guarantee that you will actually learn the wind foilduring the course. Starting with a private funboard surfing lesson is a good preparation for this course. Here, too, you can come to us for this. Ask about the possibilities.
Experience shows that students experience learning wind foils as very intensive. A good (windsurfing) condition is therefore very important to be able to get the most out of your wind foil lessons.
You don’t learn windsurfing, every windsurfer knows that. However, the ‘windsurfing condition’ and the ‘windsurfing feeling’ can sink away if you haven’t surfed for a long time. Learning to wind up is not very difficult in itself, but we have now noticed that it helps if you have recently (less than a 1/2 years) still sailed on a funboard.
Our advice is: If you haven’t surfed in a long time and you want to learn to wind foil, we recommend that you first rent a (light weather) funboard and ‘get back in’.
- With 2 sessions at most, you really have the windsurfing feeling to get back to it
- The wind foil lessons last up to 2.5 hours, make sure that condition is enough to sustain this, often on the arms
- In any case, when practicing, focus on getting into planee as quickly as possible and stand smoothly in the (front) footband
If, as described above, you are well prepared for a wind foil lesson, then you have much more fun and you learn to wind up much easier.
The location in Almere on the Gooimeer ideal for wind foiling
The location where the wind foil courses are held is ideal for wind foiling. We can go into the water via a sandy beach and after about 20 meters it is deep enough to get on and sail away. The Gooimeer is sufficiently deep everywhere and there is enough space to wind up unhindered. Our address is: Gooimeerdijk West, Surfstrand Haven 2 in Almere Haven.

Free parking on the surf beach
On the Gooimeerdijk on the surf beach there is enough parking for car and possibly a surf trailer or caravaan. The good news is that parking is FREE!
